In a story that is hard to believe even as it's being written, an elderly man from Danbury has been arrested on serious drug charges.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, 83-year-old Juan Castano of Danbury has been arrested and charged as the result of an investigation that lasted several months. Police say Danbury's Special Investigations Division (SID) started looking into Castano after receiving citizen complaints that said he was selling drugs. As the investigation went on, warrants were issued for Castano, his home, and his cell phone.

At about 4:00 on Thursday (March 15), members of the Danbury SID, the Community Conditions Unit, and a K-9 unit executed the warrants, which they say turned up four ounces of cocaine, packaging material, processing equipment and several hundred dollars in cash. All of that is considered to be conduct consistent with drug trafficking.

Juan Castano was arrested, taken into custody, and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell. He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 23.
