Report Says This Deficient Bridge in CT Is Among the Busiest in the Country
Not good news for commuters in Fairfield.
All you want to do is get to where you're going. Getting there safely and stress free is sort of helpful too!
According to cnbc.com, there is not great news for one of the busiest traveled bridges in the country.
The Yankee Doodle Bridge in Fairfield is on a new list of the 100 busiest bridges in the country that are structurally deficient according to a report by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.
artba.org just put out a list of 55,710 deficient bridges around the country and the Yankee Doodle Bridge which carries Interstate 95 over the Walk River in Norwalk tops Connecticut's portion of ARTBA's National Bridge Inventory for the state. The report though also includes various structures not only in Fairfield, but also Hartford, New Haven, New London, and Middlesex.
While Connecticut certainly has many structures on the list, the story from cnbc.com states that the five states with the most deficient bridges are Iowa with 4,968, Pennsylvania with 4,506, Oklahoma with 3,460, Missouri with 3,195 and Nebraska with 2,361.
Alison Premo Black, ARTBA's chief of economics who conducted the analysis told CNBC:
America's highway network is woefully underperforming, It is outdated, overused, underfunded and in desperate need of modernization
Here's hoping that the new regime in Washington can make fixing our infrastructural a major priority.
