Great Southern cuisine in South Norwalk!

I stopped in for Sunday brunch at Mama's Boy - Southern Table & Refuge Restaurant on my way to the Maritime Aquarium. Wow. This place blew Mrs. Large and I away! Located at 19 North Water Street in the heart of South Norwalk, CT, Mama's Boy is an outstanding place to get your unique grub on.

The menu is chock-full of Southern United States cuisine: Deviled Eggs, Fried Okra, Low Country Fettucini, Grits, Collard Greens, and Mac and Cheese. But there is a Northeast touch also: Lobster Risotto, Shrimp grits, Fish & Chips, and a Wagyu Beef Burger.

We started our Sunday Brunch with the Fried Chicken Skins, which came with a very tasty jalapeno pepper honey dipping sauce. Oh my stars! Incredible. Perfectly fried and crispy, I would have eaten 20 of these things.

I ordered the Chicken and Waffles for my entrée, and Mrs. Large ordered the Cowboy Grilled Cheese. The chicken was perfectly fried, the meat was blazing white and skin was breaded perfectly and crispy. The waffle was ok, nothing to fawn over. The grilled cheese sandwich features pulled pork, and it was delicious.

We ordered the Peach Cobbler for dessert, and again, top-notch.
