I've lived in Connecticut for almost 30 years and I can't believe I've just discovered the FCBL. The Torrington Titans play in the FCBL, which is a collegiate wooden bat league that's very similar to the NECBL. The league is made up of elite college players who are hoping to be spotted by professional baseball scouts with the ultimate goal of moving up into the major leagues.

The FCBL was born in the summer of 2011 and is considered one of the top tier collegiate leagues in the country. Like all collegiate leagues, the FCBL is not affiliated with any major league teams, but there are many major league scouts who show up at the league's games looking for up and coming players who might be good enough to play in the majors. There are no salaries in the FCBL. Elite college baseball players join on to showcase their talents with the hope of being discovered.

The Torrington Titans open their 2016 summer schedule on June 1 against the Pittsfield Suns. Last year they finished in third place with a 24-28 record, 7 games back of the first place, Bristol Blues. According to the Republican-American, GM, Chris Myslow is working on beefing up attendance this year. He reminds baseball fans that the caliber of play is like watching minor league A or AA ball and it's much much less expensive and it's a great night out. Tickets to any Titan game are only $6. What a deal!
