Danbury area golfers will have a new place to whack the ball around, as Richter Park Golf Course celebrates the Grand Opening of their new Driving Range this Saturday morning.

The driving range has been in the planning and construction stages for over a year, and will include 20 bays and over 20,000 feet of grass-hitting area. It will be one of the largest driving ranges in Connecticut.

Richter Park officials told the News-Times back in 2018 that they believe the driving range will attract younger golfers to the sport as well as bring new players to the course.

Richter Park's official celebration kicks off at 11:30 with complimentary refreshments, and Mayor Mark Boughton will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon. Attendees will also receive a driving range token.

I-95 will be broadcasting live starting just after 10 AM. The forecast calls for a sunny day, so I'm hoping to break out my old-school I-95 golf shirt for the occasion. Hope to see you there.

Richter Park Golf Course is at 100 Aunt Hack Road in Danbury.
