Danbury Titans Win Home Opener in Sudden Death Overtime
The Danbury Titans, down 4-2 in the 2nd period, came back and beat the Berlin RiverDrivers 6-5 in overtime!
Honestly, of all the Danbury Titans games I've attended, Friday's season home opener against the Berlin RiverDrivers was one of the most exciting games I've witnessed. Berlin jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first period. By the end of the 2nd period, the RiverDrivers had extended their lead to 4-2 and it didn't look good for the Titans.
The 3rd period had to be go-time for the Titans. Head Coach Dave Lun made the decision to mix his lines and BAM, the Titans scored 3 goals in the span of 5 minutes! The game was tied at the end of regulation play, which would send the Titans and RiverDrivers into a 5 minute sudden death overtime. Danbury's #37, Dalton Jay, whipped around the Berlin defense and fired the puck into the back of the RiverDriver's net for the win and the Danbury Ice Arena went wild!
The Titans are back on home ice for a 5:05 faceoff against Berlin on Sunday where it's 'Pink the Rink' night with the proceeds from game worn jerseys befitting women's health charities. Get your tickets at danburytitans.com
