On Tuesday night, Andy Cabell, owner of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Danbury, was honored during Fairfield County Business Journal’s 15th annual 40 Under Forty awards ceremony.

The 40 under forty awards are presented each year to young talent from the corporate, nonprofit, government, education and medical worlds. One of the recipients this year was Andy Cabell, the owner of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Danbury.

Cabell and the other award recipients were recognized as the next generation of young leaders who are making great strides in shaping their communities.

About a year ago, Andy purchased the Arthur Murray Danbury franchise after having been an instructor there since 2009. This year, the studio is celebrating its 40th anniversary with Cabell launching a series of give-back community-based initiatives.

So how does Andy feel about receiving this prestigious honor? Here's what he had to say:

It's very exciting, especially since I've only had the business for a year, so it gives me good energy going into year number two.

Andy's role as owner of the popular dance studio happened quickly once he realized that it would be for sale:

When I found out Nicole, the previous owner, was looking to get out of the business, rather than let someone from outside come in and buy it, or close it, I decided that I would take it over.

As far as community involvement, Cabell says that this year, the studio is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in Danbury and he's launching a series of give-back community-based initiatives.

We wanted to not only say thank you to the community for supporting us for four decades but to give back and be good neighbors… to that end, we are planning to partner with local non-profits and community organizations hosting and sponsoring regional events.

The Danbury studio has already partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Ridgefield and back in March, partnered with Hillside Food Outreach, raising over $80,000 at a "Dancing With Our Stars" event.
