In what has become a very common occurrence, another bear has been spotted in Brookfield, but this time, police have issued a warning.

It happened on Wednesday around 3 pm in the area by Hillandale Road, which is near Brookfield High School. Due to the close proximity to the school, Brookfield Police issued a warning to residence and school officials. According to newstimes.com, Police issued this statement regarding safety procedures:

Out of an abundance of caution, a police presence will remain in the area during Brookfield High School dismissal time and for middle and elementary school bus drop off.

Experts say we are approaching hibernation time for these bears, so you may see them wandering around in the coming weeks searching for food to stock up on for the winter months.

Local and state agencies also put out a warning to residents to stay away from bears, and to keep your distance if you should come in contact with one wandering around your yard. Also report any bear sightings right away to local Police and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
