A Scientist Says Holiday Music is Not Good for Our Mental Health
Clinical Psychologist Linda Blair (for real) tells Business Insider that Christmas music can be mentally draining adding; "People working in the shops [have to tune out] Christmas music, because if they don't, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else...You're simply spending all of your energy trying not to hear what you're hearing."
The songs end up serving as never-ending hints about money, shopping and stressful family gatherings. Sure, they are great at first but they eventually become reminders that we have a lot left to do, are going to spend too much dough and likely fight with someone in our family.
We asked the Ethan and Lou listeners what Christmas songs they dislike the most and the answers were not all that surprising. Basically, songs that were weird or played often kept coming up. We did a tally of all the votes and these were The Most Hated Christmas songs:
1 - "Dominic the Donkey" - Lou Monte
2 - "All I Want for Christmas is You" - Mariah Carey version
3 - "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" - Elmo & Patsy
4 - "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." - Jimmy Boyd & Many others
