With the kids back in school, and the weather still warm, weekends are made for country fairs!

Fried dough, corn on the cob, candy apples, lobster rolls, and every garlic product ever made. Plus Craft beer, livestock, tractor pulls, John Cafferty AND the Beaver Brown Band, and ... Paris Hilton?

You can find all of these bands, food, and animals at Country Fairs and Harvest Festivals throughout Western and Central Connecticut over the next couple of months.

This weekend, August 28-30, the Terryville Lion's Club Fair is happening in Terryville, CT. Featuring Jeff Pitchell and Texas Flood, fireworks, a lumberjack show, and lots of motorsports.

The 103rd Goshen Fair is taking place Labor Day Weekend, September 5-7. They'll have one of my favorite fair events: A pie eating contest! Nightly entertainment, and lots of livestock, plus there is always some unique food.

The Bethlehem Fair happens September 11-13. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band takes the stage on Saturday night, and there will be a fried dough eating contest!

On September 12, America on Tap CT will roll into the Ives Concert Park in Danbury. It's a craft beer sampling festival featuring over 100 delicious craft beers, great food, and music from hairband rockers Mullett!

Although it isn't in Western CT, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the fifth largest country fair in the nation, The Big E - which runs from September 18 all the way til October 4. The Big E happens in West Springfield, Massachusetts, about a half an hour North of Hartford.

If you're looking for big named entertainment, this is the fair: Ace Frehley, Alabama, Charlie Daniels, Kansas, and ...Paris Hilton??!! All will appear throughout the run.

Harvest Jam at the Ives Concert Park on Saturday October 10. Country music stars Keith Anderson and Jessica Lynn will rock the stage, and there will be plenty of fall-themed vendors, craft beers, and some warm ciders to ward off that October chill!

And finally...The CT Garlic and Harvest Festival returns to the Bethlehem Fairgrounds October 10-11. Live bands, rides, and every garlic product known to mankind...yum!

I'll see you at these events, I'll be standing in the fried dough lines...
