Gas below $2 a gallon? It's true and it's available in Danbury!

I searched gasbuddy.com along with a couple of other gas-price websites, but I couldn't find the lowest gas price in Danbury until I ran across an article in The Hour out of Norwalk. $1.99 gas in Danbury? I thought it must be a mis-print, but it's true. An independent gas retailer at 12 Lake Ave. Ext has negotiated the lowest price for a gallon of gas.

Orbit Fuel is the name of Naresh Gandhi's independent station. How can he sell gas for such a low price? Gandhi says there is no middle man, and are you ready for this? That $1.99 price per gallon stays the same for either cash or credit!

Because Gandhi purchased an independent gas station, he gets to set the price for his gas, which means he's able to negotiate with different gasoline wholesalers. When Gandhi operated stations for the oil companies, the company dictated price and policy. Gandhi told The Hour:

I have the same gas as the other stations, same octane, same everything. There is no difference.

It kind of makes you wonder why some of the Mobil stations in the Danbury area are still charging $2.59 per gallon. Big profits perhaps? There's a Shell station in Wilton charging $2.89 a gallon. Are we being ripped off?
