The New York Yankees take on the Minnesota Twins tonight in the BX, first pitch scheduled for 8:09. The Bombers will send Luis Severino to the hill and the Twins counter with Ervin Santana.

The good news for Yankee fans is that historically we own the Twins. Furthermore, the Yanks have done well against Santana. There are however a few problems. This is 1 game and anything can happen. One of the things that can happen is Yankee Manager Joe Girardi getting a little trigger happy with the bullpen.

Yes, all hands are on deck for a one game playoff but that does not necessarily mean we NEED to see them all. If someone is "dealing" and you pull them for what you think is a favorable "on paper" match up there are no guarantees that the next guy up is gonna have a good day.

I think, as with all playoff games this will come down to pitching. No matter how formidable your lineup is things change during the playoffs. Guys, especially young ones can get nervous and bats go cold. Luis needs to start strong and the "pen" needs to show that they are as good as everyone says.

It's put up or shut up time for the Yanks. In my opinion we are not playing with "house money" until the ALDS. This team has proved that they belong here. Their success has not been surprising since mid-summer. So if you belong, act like it and beat the "twinkies."

Warm your thumbs, it's game time.
