We're spoiled here in Connecticut. Most other states pathetically have one or two big entertainment destinations -- not us.

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are both world-class facilities in Southeast Connecticut that entertain millions of people annually.

I started going to Foxwoods shortly after they added table games and slots in 1992-1993. It was very impressive. You could tell that millions of dollars were spent creating an incredible facility. The one thing that my parents and I didn't like? You had to walk -- a lot. Foxwoods is massive, and you had to walk half a mile sometimes to try a different room.

In 1996, Mohegan Sun opened, and I fell in love.

Mohegan Sun had such a better layout than Foxwoods. I found Mohegan's circular set-up much easier to navigate, and I've been loyally patronizing since. Recently though, I had the opportunity to visit and stay at Foxwoods. I was excited. It had been almost a decade since I had been there.

I got a room in the Grand Pequot tower, which was beautiful. I was on the 12th floor, overlooking the new Tanger Outlets and the former MGM Grand tower, which is now known as The Fox Tower.

If you haven't been to Foxwoods recently, they've really upped their game. Celebrity-owned restaurants are all over the place -- Hard Rock Cafe, Guy Fieri's, and the dude from "Fast n Loud," Richard Rawlings, has a new joint opening up soon. Ice T and Coco are going to be there for New Year's Eve -- Yay! They have Dunkin' and Starbucks, and the guy from Cake Boss has a store.

My impression is that Foxwoods is chasing a younger, national audience. I did not see one thing in there that screamed "Connecticut," it's all national chains. You could pick up Foxwoods and plant it in Wisconsin, and nobody inside would notice.

Mohegan Sun on the other hand, screams local. Pepe's Pizza, Boston's Jasper White, New York's Bobby Flay, and, uh -- yeah, Michael Jordan. He's from everywhere.

Another win for Mohegan is their entertainment venue, Mohegan Sun Arena. 10,000 seats allows you to book bigger names and sporting events. The Fox Theater at Foxwoods looks nice, but true headliners won't play to only 4,000 heads.

My favorite? It's still Mohegan Sun. Better layout, better restaurants, better concerts, better comedians, MMA events, and the WNBA's Connecticut Sun. The only thing that caught my attention at Foxwoods that Mohegan doesn't have? BINGO! If you're sick of sitting in third grader's chairs in a church basement, go to Foxwoods. Their Bingo Hall is the size of the XL Center in Hartford.

Foxwoods is good, don't get me wrong. I will go back eventually, but my heart belongs to Mohegan Sun. Which do you prefer?
