We're lucky enough to live in an area that has lots of great opportunities for hikes and bike rides. You don't even need to go to a park for some of them. One of my favorite places to take a walk is in a residential area in Newtown.

Zoar Road in Newtown is what is referred to as a "scenic road." It is a narrow road, and most of it is not paved. Since most of it is not paved, it is also not heavily traveled, which I am sure the residents appreciate.

This road is near where I grew up, and is right around the corner from one of my closest childhood friends. So, growing up, we spent quite a bit of time walking on this road. Granted, things have changed a little over the years, as things do. I can remember seeing animals in some of the fields as we walked, and now when I travel the road, I don't see animals in those fields anymore. It is still a nice road to walk, though.

Zoar Road is surrounded by woods and fields, as well as a few houses. Of course, there are the New England signature rock walls in the woods too. It's a pretty quiet road and it's relaxing to take a stroll down it. Plus, it brings back fun childhood memories of me and my friend riding our bikes and staying out until it was time to ride back for dinner.
