Five Unofficial Mascots for the Greater Danbury Towns
I've been giving this mascot thing a lot of thought. The following are some of my suggestions for unofficial mascots for towns in the greater Danbury area.
Admit it, everyone loves a human dressed up in an over-sized, furry costume whether they're representing a sports team, a business, or even a town. Remember, there are never any bad ideas when you're brainstorming.
1. Danbury
This one's a no-brainer. It's gotta be someone dressed up in a HAT costume because Danbury was the Hat City back in the day.
2. Bethel
The very first vodka distillery in the country was built in Bethel in 1932, which is most definitely worthy of mascot consideration. The costume would look something like this:
3. New Milford
One of the most recognizable signs of living in New Milford is the full size tank that's displayed in the middle of the New Milford Green. This leads to the obvious choice of an Army tank mascot. You could call it Tommy the Tank!
4. Newtown
Because the game of Scrabble was invented by James Brunot, who resided in Newtown, the choice for the Newtown mascot is a no-brainer. You could call him Scrabbletown!
5. Ridgefield
What's the very first word that comes to mind when you're driving through Ridgefield? If you said MONEY, you're 100% correct. Only if you have a lot of it can you afford to live in Ridgefield with BMWs, Mercedes, and Volvos everywhere! There's only one unofficial mascot that works for Ridgefield, The Money Man!
If you're bringing in the high six figures with that $8,000-a-month mortgage while living in Ridgefield, you need to get your kids trained in the matters of the almighty dollar sooner than later. Meet Baby Bucks.
Yeah, I know these are all pretty stupid ideas. If you were in charge of coming up with a mascot for the town you live in, what would it be?
