  • Five schools in Connecticut exceeded earning hopes. The University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, Quinnipiac University, and Eastern Connecticut State University are tops. Wesleyan University, University of Hartford, Central Connecticut State and Yale fell below expectations for grads.

 

  • Police in Hamden say they caught Edward Quick last week trying to sell drugs from inside his car. The 75-year-old allegedly had half a dozen bags of cocaine in his car as he was making a sale, according to WTNH -TV.

 

  • New statistics show a huge climb in the death rate among white men and women between the ages of 45 and 54 since 1999. The National Academy of Sciences says the rate increased by half a percent each year between 1999 and 2013 and is most likely due to issues with drugs, alcohol and suicide, the NY TIMES reports.

 

  • It does help to have that dreaded "Sex Talk" with your kids. Researchers say parents who talk about sex and protection with their kids can influence teenagers' behavior for the better, according to NBC NEWS.
