I recently read an editorial piece in the News Times written by Editorial Page Editor, Jacqueline Smith, and I say, BRAVO Ms. Smith!

I wish I had written this article about Pat Zachman, the President of the Women's Center for the last 25 years, so if you don't mind, Ms. Smith, I'm going to pile on here and also sing the praises of this amazing woman.

I'm honored to know Pat, because I've had the privilege of working with her and her amazing staff over the years, helping out with various fundraising events for the Women's Center. Men like Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Bill O'Reilly, and dozens of others may have brought the issues of sexual assault to the forefront, but Pat, along with her skilled staff and volunteers at the Women's Center, has been working non-stop since 1975 serving over 20,000 individuals providing a safe haven from domestic abuse and sexual assault. The author of this News Times editorial, Jacqueline Smith, was right on the money when she said:

Let's talk about how we treat others and how we as humans can do better than harass, threaten, and abuse each other.

On Oct. 20, 2017, Pat Zachman was awarded the Women's Business Council's "Heart of Women Award". From all of us here at i95, thank you so very much for what you do for the Greater Danbury area community, and I can't wait to work with you once again on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the next Women's Center Annual Fundraising Gala.

If you're in need of services from the Women's Center of Greater Danbury, here are the important numbers you'll need:

Domestic Violence Hotline - (203) 731-5206

Sexual Assault Hotline - (203) 731-5204
