For the last three years, Mindy and I have decided not to participate in the timely tradition of dropping candy into Halloween trick or treat bags. Let me explain. For approximately 24 years, we've walked around several neighborhoods with each of our children in tow as they 'tricked and treated' with their cute little costumes while collectively bringing home 2 to 3 tons of candy! I would immediately take away their bags and rifle through the variety of sugary goodness literally stealing their Tootsie Rolls, Butterfingers, and Reeces Peanut Butter Cups, along with Reeces Pieces. Is that wrong? I didn't care because it was our reward for schlepping them all over the neighborhood.

As our youngest child, Allie, prepared to venture out for her last 'trick or treating' episode at 14, I turned to her hot best friend who was dressed as a dominatrix and thought to myself, "That's a wrap!" We still participated in the "trick or treating" ritual for another 8 years before we turned off the porch lights along with our inside lights and proceeded to hide and watch "Big Bang Theory" reruns.

Mindy and I made the decision to "close up shop" for Halloween because we just weren't excited about it anymore plus the fact we're invited to grownup Halloween parties every year. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Remember kiddies, if there's no porch light on, that means that's where the old grouchy people live. NO CANDY FOR YOU!!
