Want to Eat Connecticut’s Best Eggplant Parm?

If you love Eggplant Parm as much as I do, go to Tiramisu Restaurant in Waterbury

Mrs. Large and I were hungry last night, and I remembered hearing about Tiramisu Italian Restaurant, located at 3670 East Main Street in Waterbury, from some of my East End friends. We went, and man, am I glad we did! Tiramisu is located right up the street from Blackie's, CoCo Key, and Costco in a strip-mall setting. Unassuming and dimly lit from the outside, as soon as you walk in, you are greeted with rich wood floors, calm, soothing colors, and amazing aromas. We were warmly greeted at the door by Debbie, the owner, who sat us right down.

We started with Fried Mootz, which was thin, perfectly cooked, and slathered with some of the most delicious red "gravy" that I've ever inhaled. Then came a perfectly chilled salad. and on to the main course, I ordered Linguini with clams with the white sauce, and Mrs. Large ordered the eggplant parm. I've eaten a lot of linguini with clams in my life, this was one of the best. And her Eggplant Parm? THE best she's ever had. When you think eggplant parm, you think layers of the plant and a thick final product. Tiramisu's eggplant parm was light and heavenly. I've made it many times, and my eggplant parm isn't bad. Debbie's husband Nicola has obviously made this dish thousands of times over years, and he's a maestro.

We ended our meal with....Tiramisu. Also, perfection. We spoke with Debbie and her son about our meal, praising them, and they were so happy. It's a family owned and operated restaurant, and you can see and taste the care and love that they use to create their delicious dishes. I highly recommend making the trip to the East End of Waterbury and eat at Tiramisu Restaurant if you love Italian food. Town Plot has been knocked off the mantle as Waterbury's Italian food mecca in my opinion.
