It's right up there with being asked to sing the national anthem. It's the dreaded ceremonial first pitch. My advice is to pass.

This is how it went for Snoop D-O-Double G:

I have thrown out the first pitch at a baseball game. It went bad. Real bad. Keep in mind, I played baseball, and was pretty damn good. Years ago, the Danbury Westerners asked me to throw out the first pitch at one of their games. This was early in my career at the radio station, when I would show up to anything, as long as someone asked.

The interesting part was that they decided that myself, along with 15 little league baseball players, would share in the honor. That got in my head. It was very emasculating, standing in line behind ten booger-eating little boys, waiting to throw out my pitch. Keep in mind, I was last. The little league kids went up and all threw strikes right down the middle. They got in my head. I got up there in a cold sweat and it was right on target but it bounced on the plate. YEP, I bounced it. 10 thirteen year old kids laughed in my face and so did the minor league ball players. Traumatic does not describe it. I have since been asked to throw out the first pitch at a Bluefish game and declined. That kind of embarrassment does not need a sequel. So if you get asked, don't do it. At least though I did a better job than Snoop, 50 Cent, Mark Wahlberg, Carly Ray Jepsen and Mariah Carey.
