You would think all that these years later, we could lay this story to rest. Not quite yet.

I'm not generally a vengeful person, but I find myself feeling that emotion when it comes to the horrific, mind-numbing tragedy of 2007 in Cheshire Connecticut.

I say good riddance to bad rubbish. Of course, many of us thought this was the case years after the horrible murder of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters in a brutal Cheshire home invasion.

The trial that followed found both Joshua Komisarjevsky and Steven Hayes guilty. They have both tried and failed to appeal. In 2015, the state Supreme Court abolished the death penalty.

As covered by courant.com, convicted Cheshire home-invasion killer Joshua Komisarjevsky has been resentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. Komisarjevsky had previously been sentenced to death for his role in the killings.

Once again, my heart goes out to all the members of the Petit family, and it is my sincere hope that Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters Hayley and Michaela can finally rest in peace.
