The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory which will remain in effect until 9pm this evening. An Air Quality Alert has also been issued and will remain in effect until 11pm.

Because of heat indices reaching a level of 102, being outdoors, especially working outdoors, can cause heat stress resulting in a medical emergency.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shadded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1. -National Weather Service

Fairfield and Northern New Haven counties are also in an Air Quality Action Day which means that Ground Level Ozone could reach dangerous levels. It is just not a good day to be outdoors.

If you must be outside, remember hydration and frequent shaded breaks are crucial.
