There are a lot of names being floated out there and most are not good ideas.

As far as coaches looking for jobs there are a ton but this is one of the biggest coaching jobs in all of sports and the N.Y. Giants organization does not like the idea of getting it wrong.  They need to put themselves in a position where they have a coach who can be there for years to come and not have a revolving door situation.  Some of the names being floated that will be available are:

  • Sean Payton - he's actually not available.  The Giants would have to trade for him but it's widely known that he and the Saints organization are looking to part ways this season.  He is not a bad option.  He has a Super Bowl ring and worked for the Giants years ago as a coordinator.
  • Chip Kelly - TERRIBLE IDEA.  The guy is an overrated, blow hard, know it all.
  • Josh McDaniels - He's the Pats Offensive coordinator and is said to be looking for a head coaching job again.  Ask the Broncos how that worked for them.
  • Ben Mcadoo - He's the Giants current offensive coordinator and did a great job getting the Giants offense scoring points this season.  Internal moves are never a terrible idea.  Upside there is they won't have to install a new offensive system.  The down side is that it's not a real sexy move.  NY fans want to see a coach with an established winning resume as a head coach.

Whatever move they make the Giants need to take their time.

P.S. Coughlin did not step down.  He was fired.  I don't care what anyone tells me on that one.
