One of the things we were gypped out of when the blizzard took a turn to the East was a phenomenon called "Thunder Snow."

Thunder Snow happens when the air is especially unstable.  It is very much like a thunderstorm, but with snow instead of rain, and is much more rare than a rain based thunderstorm.

Thunder Snow kind of follows the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore around.  Given that they usually send him into extreme weather, that's not really a huge surprise.

When I heard there might be Thunder Snow around here, I, of course, started screaming "Thunder Snow" in my best Brian Johnson "Thunderstruck" voice and proceeded to shout myself hoarse.

In honor of Thunder Snow, here are a few versions of "Thunderstruck." First with Finnish bluegrass band Steve 'N Seagulls:

Next, a Classical version of the song by 2 Cellos:

And finally, Angus and company with the original. "Thunder Snow!!!"
