It's official, but complicated. According to the News-Times, the Danbury Whaler's will be no more, BUT all is not lost hockey fans! Operating partner for the Danbury Whalers, Herm Sorcher, has accepted a position with a new FHL hockey team that will play at the Brewster Ice Arena.

Here are the facts according to the News-Times. The entire issue revolves around the Whaler's lease at the Danbury Ice Arena. Eagle Ice Sports has maintained that the Whaler's signed a 5 year lease with a mutual option to renew for another 5 years.

The key word being, "mutual." Whaler owners have insisted the agreement was for a straight 10 year lease. Eagle Ice Sports informed the Whalers on April 3, they would not be renewing the lease for the second 5 year term, so the Whalers cleaned out their lockers and vacated the building.

In a new development, Lou and I found out that Bruce Bennett, owner of Bruce Bennett Nissan in Wilton is extremely interested in purchasing a new professional hockey team that would play in the Danbury Ice Arena. Through the FB page titled, "Keep Pro Hockey In Danbury" Bennett is beginning his search for interested investors.

On the Ethan and Lou Show this morning, we talked at length with Bennett.
