WINTER WEATHER WARNING: Ten dangerously cool wintertime classic rock songs are headed this way. Please turn your heat and speakers way, way up.

    AC/DC - "Black Ice"

More dangerous than snow, wind, sleet or rain is black ice so it is imperative that you play this super-cool song as a daily reminder....For your own safety of course.

Grateful Dead - "Cold Rain & Snow"

This is an obscure song but being a big Dead fan I’m going to put this one on the list. A very cool Dead song and one that fits right in with any Dead Head’s winter listening playlist.

    The Doors - "Wintertime Love"

“Come with me dance my dear, winter's so cold this year. And you are so warm, my wintertime love to be.” Jim Morrison sounds so cool when he sings those lyrics yet if I tried singing them out loud at a bar I’d probably get punched in the face. It's best to leave it to The Lizard King.

David Lee Roth - "40 Below"

The 90s weren't exactly the greatest years for David Lee Roth but his 1991 album “A Little Ain’t Enough”  produced by Bob Rock had some really good moments and this is one of ‘em.  Diamond Dave reaches deep into the lyrical freezer for this ultra-cool song: An' I'll be whippin' in your window, I'll be lickin' round your knees, I can drop below zero any moment baby, I'm talkin' forty degrees!”.

    Joe Satriani - "Ice 9"

According to Wikipedia Ice-nine is supposedly a polymorphism of water more stable than common ice; instead of melting at 0 °C (32 °F), it melts at 45.8 °C (114.4 °F). If you need someone to explain what that means you won’t get it from me. A chemist I am not but this song is so cool it simply cannot melt under any conditions.

Jethro Tull - "Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day"

I would not recommend skating away on thin ice under any circumstances. It’s much safer to just listen to this cool classic from Jethro Tull and use your imagination.

    Black Sabath - "Snow Blind"

This song isn’t about the snow that falls from the sky but, instead, about the snow that has been sucked up through the nose of many a rock star over the years. Having said that, it’s an awesomely-cool song that has the word “snow” in it so that’s good enough to make this list.

    Ace Frehley - "Snow Blind"

    See song #4

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - "Out In The Cold"

Tom Petty braves the cold with the help of a killer-cool riff from Heartbreaker guitarist Mike Campbell. This is a forgotten single from Petty’s 1991 album ‘Into The Great Wide Open’. A #1 Mainstream Rock track back in ’91, it makes #2 on this list.

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - "Couldn't Stand The Weather"

Neither can we Stevie...Neither can we.
