This has been exciting to watch. The fact is if the Yankees are not in contention in October I just simply won't watch post-season baseball.  The fact that the Mets are mean that I had to so I knew what I was talking about on our radio show.  I'm glad that was the case because whether I like them or not, the Mets are doing something special.

Their pitching is superior so it looks like they are just blowing through their competition.

But it's also the amazing contributions from the entire lineup and those moments where they take advantage of mistakes by the other team that make you think they are destined to win the whole thing this year.

Daniel Murphy is playing outside his mind.  What we have watched him do, we probably will never see again. Not only did he cap the series with another home  run which made it six straight games with one, but he hit every other ball he saw.

What's also getting lost in the shadow of Murphy is that the Captain David Wright is on base every time you see him.  Wright is not doing it in a flashy style.  It's a walk a single maybe a double but every time you look up he is in scoring position.

Then out of nowhere Lucas Duda comes alive. Cespedes is the attention grabbing slugger who if you had asked me before the playoffs would be carrying the team but at this point he is another cog in what seems to be an unstoppable wheel.

Good for you Mets fans....it has been a long time coming.  I just hope Brian Cashman is paying attention and has his pen ready to go and ink all the players you cannot afford next year.
