Professional hockey is alive and well in Danbury, as the Danbury Titans take on the Berlin River Drivers in their home opener this Friday night.

The puck drops this Friday, October 28 at 7:15 PM when the Danbury Titans launch their 2016 -2017 season under new head coach, Dave Lun. Former Titans coach, Phil Esposito and the Titans parted ways at the end of last season. Look for Coach Espositio behind the Watertown Wolves bench when the Wolves come to town on Saturday, Nov. 12 for a 7:15 face-off.

Lun's last two years as a player were under Coach Esposito's Danbury Trashers, where he racked up 26 goals and 38 assists. Lun's first coaching job was with the Brewster Bulldogs of the FHL, which is no longer active.

The Titans are owned by the former owner of the 'Bruce Bennett Nissan' car dealership, Bruce Bennett himself, who fell in love with FHL hockey during the Danbury Trasher years. He fell in love with the game so much so, that he made the decision to buy the team when the former Trasher owners were accused of financial mis-dealings, and were stripped of their team.

Bennett has been a friend of i95 both professionally and personally for the last 30 years, which is why he's offering up his private suite to a lucky listener and 19 of his or her closest friends for opening night this Friday against the Berlin River Drivers. Food will be provided by Jersey Mike's in Brookfield!
