US News and World Reports recently released their intense cumulative study on the best high schools in the United States. The methodology used by US News to rank all of the nation's high schools were based on key principles:

1. How well the school did to serve the educational needs of ALL of its students, not just the smartest ones.

2. Schools had to produce measurable academic outcomes showing it was educating its student body across a wide range of performance indicators.

3. What percentage of the student body actually graduated.

Out of 19,168 public schools throughout the nation, only 6,918 schools met the criteria for an actual ranking.
