I love intelligent movies, and the Bantam Cinema brings the goods.

If the choice is Furious 7 or The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, I'm choosing the British film.

Boyhood or Avengers 2? Give me Richard Linklater's film (Boyhood). I'm not a crowd-lover, I've always gone to weekday night showings or early morning shows. I'm older now, and I've turned into a shush-er in the theaters.

It's a very good thing that places like The Bantam Cinema exist. You're not going to run into mouth-breathers giggling and holding up their smartphones as the "No Texting" disclaimer runs.

Quiet, quaint, and intelligent movies only. My kind of place.

Located at 115 Bantam Lake Road near the intersection of Rt. 202, The Bantam Cinema is Connecticut's oldest continuously run movie theater, open since 1927.

The owners have a discerning eye when it comes to the films that they feature. Innovative, imaginative, and carefully-crafted films are the norm. If you really need a sanctuary to enjoy your entertainment, the Bantam Cinema is a fine choice.
