Skilled teenaged musicians playing rock n' roll is a wonder to behold, and It's my honor to be asked back as a judge for this year's Sixth Annual Ridgefield BandJam.

Next Sunday, May 15, at the Ridgefield Playhouse, the best of the best middle and high school rock bands from New York and Connecticut compete for the bragging rights to be named the winners of BandJam 2016. The winners also receive studio recording time and a $500 Guitar Center gift certificate, among other cool stuff. Check out the high school winners of BandJam 2015, The Bothers:

The reason I come back year after year to help judge this impressive line-up of teenage talent is because I was doing exactly the same thing when I was in high school. Our band we called, Green Machine, played a ton of high school dances and included a dynamic lead vocalist, who is now a history professor at Penn State. I played rhythm guitar and sang the high songs like Janis Joplin's, "Piece of My Heart," and "Oh Darling" by the Beatles.
