Connecticut Considers Fines For Slow Drivers Hogging the Left Lane

FINALLY! Move over or pay up! According to Foxct.com, a bunch of states are going after drivers who have decided to hang out in the left lane FOREVER.

In case you can't tell, this is one of my pet peeves.

Recently many states have been zeroing in on drivers who plant themselves in the left lane while driving, which creates a slowdown for other drivers and is just plain annoying, especially if they're going too slow. Indiana just passed a bill that kicks in on July 1, which allows police to ticket habitual left lane drivers to the tune of $500!

Have you ever found yourself behind one of these obnoxious "left laners?" You can flash your lights, beep your horn, flip 'em the bird and they just won't move over! It's like they're oblivious to any and all other traffic.

The most popular reason given by "left lane hoggers" as to why they won't move over is, "I'm going the speed limit so I shouldn't have to move over!" The scariest reason that some drivers won't move out of the left lane is that they are clueless and/or distracted, and that can be a disaster waiting to happen.

Currently, Florida, Indiana, Georgia, Michigan, and Oregon have laws in place to penalize left lane drivers, and I'm hoping Connecticut is thinking about it.

If you're reading this and you're one of those left lane culprits, please be courteous and ease back into the right lane, especially if you're not keeping up with the flow of traffic.
