Suspicious Camping Grill Closes Down Kent Falls State Park

I would think that one of the very last places in the world you'd have to worry about a bomb scare would be Kent Falls.

It was literally one of the very best weather days of the summer on Sunday, July 9 with sunshine and low humidity. You could say it was a perfect day for a stroll at Kent Falls State Park. Unless, of course, you were pulling into the parking lot and freaking out because the Connecticut State Bomb Squad had just arrived.

According to nbcconnecticut.com, someone had spotted some sort of curious object that contained some visible wires on the footbridge leading into the park. You know what they say, "If you see something, say something," and that's exactly what one park goer did.

Around 10 AM, park officials closed down Kent Falls and both the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the bomb squad were called in to investigate. After a full examination of the object, the bomb squad reported it was only a camp grill that posed no threat. The park was reopened around 12:45 PM.

Thankfully, this true story had a happy ending but unfortunately, we need to be more cautious than ever before, and calling in the authorities was the absolute right thing to do. Please, "If you see something, say something."
