I was driving through Middlebury this morning, and a couple of sandwich boards at the intersection of Routes 188 and 64 caught my hungry eye. The first board advertised the Annual Strawberry Festival, which takes place Wednesday, June 8, from 5 to 7:30 PM at the Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Road in Middlebury. Face painting and games are planned for the kids, and for all of us, BBQ and strawberry shortcakes will be served. I love strawberry shortcake. I love BBQ. I love Middlebury. It's a triple win.

The other sandwich board caught my attention with the use of one word - LOBSTER. I've written many times about my love of these tasty crustaceans, and here we go again. Also an annual event in Middlebury, the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary annual lobster dinner is happening on Saturday, June 18. This is a perfect opportunity for the squeamish to have someone cook their lobster for them. The ladies do all the cooking, and all you have to do is pick up the red treasures at the Middlebury Fire Department's Headquarters at 65 Tucker Hill Road. Pre-order your lobster dinner by calling 203-263-8240, the price of each dinner is only $20.

Strawberry-covered lobsters anyone?
