Almost a year ago, I told you about Jared, a disabled 8 year old Brookfield boy who's brain damaged and confined to a wheelchair, but does respond to music. Especially when his stepdad, Jayce Correia sings to him. Check out the video from last year that went viral and currently has 1,356,000 views.

I checked in with Jayce over the weekend to find out how his little man, Jared, was doing a year later. He told me he was overwhelmed with the support from the community, which helped him purchase a specially equipped van for Jared. Because of your generosity, they were also able to purchase the locking mechanism for the wheel chair.

The boy was born without 48% of his brain tissue and has the mental capacity of a six month old. He's unable to walk or talk and is unable to see. Jared can recognize voices and loves to cuddle. Back in February of 2015, Jayce told today.com, "Everytime I lean into him, he does this thing where he grabs my ear and he feels my earring and that's how he knows it's me."

Jared's therapy has payed off tremendously, allowing him to bare some weight on his legs. Jayce also told me he's been offered some musical opportunities, like creating a musical composition for a high school in the area along with taking part in a video production piece.

This past Saturday afternoon, Jayce sent me a FB message saying, "But above everything else, it's been the positive feedback and generosity from people all around that fills me with gratitude. I am amazed by the many people who have reached into their hearts."
