A head-on collission this weekend claimed the life of a CT State Trooper.

Rep-am.com reports that 27-year-old Danielle Miller of Wolcott was killed on Saturday night when the Ford Crown Victoria cruiser that she was driving collided head-on with a 2004 Ford pickup. The accident happened not far from the officer's home on Wolcott Road near Tosun Road (Route 69) in Wolcott at 8:48pm.

Miller was off-duty and in plain clothes at the time of the accident. She was traveling northbound when she collided with the pickup driven by 30-year-old Aric Rivkin who also lives in Wolcott. Rivkin was traveling southbound.

Police and Fire Rescue were called to the scene and the Jaws of Life were used to extricate Miller from the cruiser. Both drivers were taken to the hospital where Miller died from her injuries. Rivkin was treated and released on Sunday morning.

The crash is still being investigated. If you have any information about the accident, please contact the Wolcott Police Department at 203-879-1414.
