I realize it's a bit premature to be writing about going back to school time, but my eye caught an article on Thestir.com about an organization called "StandupKids," which is an organization that promotes fitness and wellness for kids. Their mission is to get every public school child at a standing desk in 10 years.

Why a "standing desk" you ask? Child experts say that standing desks for kids help them to be more attentive. You've seen little kids try and sit for an extended period of time. It usually doesn't work.

It's a proven fact that kids think better and do better in school when they're standing up.

Researchers discovered that kids who use standing desks performed 12% greater in "on task engagement" activities than kids working at a sit-down desk.

The way it works is that kids stand at a desk with a stool for added support so they're able to shift, wiggle, and work through their lessons and they might also help to fight childhood obesity!

Kids with these desks can burn up to 15% more calories than typical desks. Proponents also say that stand up desks can reduce orthopedic problems in kids and pump up their creativity. Sounds like a no brainer to me! What are your thoughts?
