Shhh, It’s So Quiet Out There Because Snow Absorbs Sound Waves

#JunoNoNoNoSnow  #Blizzard2015.  Well, there is SOME SNOW and it has brought much everything to a halt.

And around 7:30 am this morning snow did pick up again in the state. Some areas more intense than others. Outside of the studios in Brookfield a light dusting started to fall again.

But it's the QUIET that gets you! Snow itself tends to quiet the world down...ssshhhh...you know it does! A meteorologist with Climate Central explains that when snow falls, it absorbs some of the sound waves.

The more snowflakes pile up on the ground, the more space there is between them. With all that space between flakes, sound is unable to bounce off snow as easily as it would off water! So as a result, sound gets absorbed by a fresh blankey of snow!

Even though the #Blizzard2015 turned out in most areas to not be that big of a deal- the calm is peaceful!

Oh wait...it's quiet at i95 today because the rest of the staff bailed! Us jocks have to keep the rock rolling. And I bet the kids are home and on your one last good nerve about now ... SO CRANK US UP!!!!
