  • Good news for Connecticut service members. Senator Blumenthal says that some of them could get refund checks soon. Federal student loan servicer Sallie Mae has agreed to provide 60-million-dollars in refunds to members of the military. The refunds settle claims that Sallie Mae charged excessive rates on student loans to service members. The average check will be 771-dollars.
  • The number of medical marijuana patients is way up in Connecticut. Because of that regulators are seeking three new dispensaries. State officials say they are seeing steady growth in acceptance of the program among doctors and patients, causing increased demand.
  • You can't make this stuff up. An Italian surgeon says he plans to perform a human head transplant in 2017. Sergio Canavero says he already has a volunteer for the operation. NewScientist.com says Canavero plans to fuse the severed head to the new body by using a chemical that has been shown to promote the growth of spinal cord nerves in animals.
