Aside from the sleep I lost last night because of the rain pounding on my A/C unit, the heavy rains have caused many other issues in our area.

Newstimes.com reports that the south end of Main Street, near Elmwood Place right in front of the Community Health Center, has been shut down by police because of flooding. The skies dumped over two inches of rain causing several roads around the area to flood and become impassable.

Aside from the flooding, a number of power outages have also been reported around the Greater Danbury area. Eversource reports that as of 10:15am, these towns are reporting the following outages:

  • Bethel: 9
  • Middlebury: 44
  • Monroe: 5
  • New Fairfield: 9
  • Newtown: 1
  • Norwalk: 101
  • Oxford: 1
  • Ridgefield: 5
  • Sherman: 1
  • Southbury: 6

Eversource crews are working on the outages to get power restored as quickly as possible. If you are without power, make sure that you report your outage to Eversource. The latest outage reports and estimated repair times can be found at Eversource.com.
