If you watch WFSB-CBS Channel 3 out of Hartford, you cannot escape Scot Haney's commercials for Middlebury Consignment. He's been their spokesperson for quite a few years. If you've never been, Middlebury Consignment is an amazing destination. Their main location is located at 1365 Whittemore Road, but they also have an annex, which is located at 1101 Southford Road. The main store is beautiful. Stuffed to the rafters with luxurious furnishings, paintings, statues, wallpapers, carpets, and lighting. You can smell the old money as you enter the building. $4,000 couches to the left, $6,500 Chest of Drawers to the right.

It's become quite a social destination, The Kitchen at Whittemore Crossing in the main store is open 11:30AM to 3PM 7 days a week, and serves up tasty soups, salads, sandwiches, and beverages. They also offer a very diverse array of cooking classes. Strolling around the multi-level facility is a great way to pass an afternoon, Mrs. Large and I were constantly gasping at the price tags on some of the items. A beautiful little painting of a dog was priced at $225 on a recent trip, a little too much out of my price range, especially after we blew $60 at the candy shop on the first floor. Weekends are always packed, with lots of eager shoppers mulling over the constantly revolving array of home furnishings.

Middlebury Consignment, and their two restaurant neighbors, Junipers, and Pies and Pints, make Whittemore Road in Middlebury a great weekend destination to bring your family, and enjoy a day of shopping and fine dining.
