Sixx: A.M. are in the midst of major promotion for their Prayers for the Damned album, and during a recent appearance in France, the band played an acoustic version of Motley Crue's "Live Wire" on the La Bande Originale de Nagui Radio Show.

The band flipped the feel of the typically high energy track, slowing it down and making for a more haunting rendition that you can hear in the player below. You may recall Nikki Sixx once stating in an interview that Sixx: A.M. would never play a Motley Crue song, but the bassist later took a step back from those comments stating that the initial intent was to put the focus on all that Sixx: A.M. has planned, with two albums and massive touring on the horizon.

"After seeing my own words in the press, I was, like, who knows? Maybe four or five years down the road, maybe we’ll do an acoustic version of ‘Live Wire’ or do some interesting," stated Sixx in a follow-up interview. "But you will never see this band [Sixx: A.M.] lean on Motley Crue, because I don’t think that’s fair. I wrote the songs, so I guess I’m entitled to play them if I want. I just want some distance.”

Those comments did stick with some fans and led to the following Twitter exchange:

Look for Sixx: A.M. touring in Europe and returning to the U.S. later this year with more dates. Their full itinerary can be found here.
