Mystic will be hot this weekend. Fingers crossed the weather complies.

A big part of Connecticut's heritage is our shoreline, and the amazing Mystic Seaport. There is so much to see and do around the legendary Mystic Seaport area. From the museum, to the aquarium, to the shopping, and the sight seeing, and more, it's an amazing spot.

This coming weekend the area plays host to musicians from around the world, gathering at the Mystic Seaport maritime museum to celebrate the traditions of the Golden Age of Sail at the 38th annual Sea Music Festival, which runs Thursday June 8 through Sunday June 11.

The history of Mystic Seaport is steeped in what is known as the Golden Age of Sail, the period between 1850 and the early 20th century when sailing vessels reached their peak of size, complexity and efficiency.

The Sea Music Festival website says that this years gathering includes not only singers from all across the U.S., but also musicians from Great Britain, France and Australia. along with singers from across the United States.

The festivities feature day and evening concerts, performances for children, instructional workshops, and more. For information, times, ticket packages and more, go to mysticseaport.org
