The Rite Aid on Fairfield Avenue in the Town Plot section of Waterbury has been my hidden gem for years. It's far less hectic than the CVS on West Main St., which suffers from their close proximity to Waterbury Hospital. Long pharmacy lines are the norm at the West Main CVS. My nice, quiet Rite Aid? In and out, usually in 20 minutes. My only complaint about this Rite Aid? It hadn't been renovated since it was built back in the 80's/90's.

I was shocked this past Saturday. Rite Aid corporate has finally taken notice of the dilapidated Fairfield Avenue location, and has begun renovations! I really feel like Andy Dufresne in the movie The Shawshank Redemption. In the movie, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), in an attempt to secure funding for a library in the prison in which he is an inmate, sends a letter a week requesting the funds from the state board. He does this for 7 years before the state finally answers him with some cash.

Why do I feel like Andy Dufresne? I've taken over 500 of those customer satisfaction surveys printed on the Rite Aid receipts, and on almost every one, I've written "Renovate/Update the Fairfield Avenue Rite Aid, it's way overdue".... VICTORY!

I hope that the new coolers being installed will mean a better beverage selection...

I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams...

I hope they have a better selection of beef jerky....

I hope....   I hope......
