A Ridgefield College student had her dreams come true earlier today when she was awarded a top scholarship prize in a contest sponsored by the upcoming Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler movie, The House.

Samantha Watts was just like any normal, average college student. She attends Ithaca College in upstate New York, where she is studying speech pathology and education studies. However, her life and future took a turn when her dad became ill.

According to patch.com, Samantha's dad was recently treated for esophageal cancer, and due to high medical costs, she was in need of scholarship money to continue her education. It was then that she decided to enter the The House scholarship contest sponsored by the Today Show and the movie The House starring Will Ferrell & Amy Poehler, which is about the extremes parents must go to in order to pay for their child’s college education.

Samantha's essay was chosen from a pool of 2000 applicants as a finalist for this college tuition scholarship. She was part of the plaza audience this morning (Tuesday) when all of a sudden her life changed big time.
