A beloved member of the Danbury community has passed away.

According to a social media post from the Danbury Police Department, retired police K-9 Koda has crossed the "rainbow bridge" so to speak.

In the heartfelt post, the DPD explains that Koda was the longtime K-9 partner of Detective Travis Kupchok. The duo patrolled and protected the city's streets for six years from the time Koda became a member of Hat City's Finest back in 2011, until the time he retired due to a brain tumor in the early part of 2017.

The Department shared the following sentiments regarding the passing of one of their own: "K9 Koda will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Detective Kupchok and his family."

Rest easy, K-9 Officer Koda.
