Now even going to the movies will require extra security measures as Regal Cinemas will begin to enforce a bag search security policy.

In light of recent shootings in Louisiana and Tennessee, Regal Cinemas has begun to enforce their bag-search policy. The new policy is part of an increased push to increase safety measures.

According to The Christian Science Monitor, Regal Cinema's which operates 570 theater's nationwide, has added this security measure telling customers through it's website that bags and backpacks will now be subject to inspection prior to admission.

You might think that movie goers would be likely to object to bag searches, knowing that it will defer people from bringing in outside food and drinks, however according to The Monitor customers may welcome Regal’s decision.

A movie survey done at the end of July by consumer research firm C4, found that 34 percent wanted armed guards and metal detectors, and a quarter were in favor of mandatory bag checks.

Locally Regal Cinema's operate theaters in Waterbury, Fishkill,  Nanuet, in the Hudson Valley Mall and in New Rochelle.
