Some scary news about the state of our drinking water has some Connecticut residents worried. Patch.com states that the Environmental Working Group has released a report which shows unsafe levels of the radioactive element "Radium" in Connecticut drinking water.

Since Radium comes from the earth, it is pretty much everywhere. The problem is that it tends to hang around and pile up in the body. Therefore, if you are exposed to it for a long period of time, it can increase the risk of cancer. How much exposure is too much?

There are discrepancies about that very question and also just how much is actually in our drinking water. The article stresses that legal limits and health guidelines can be two very different things.

What can you do to find out more? You can check the reports submitted for your tap water by going to the Environmental Working Group's page and entering your zip code.
