UCONN Names Parkland Victim Honorary Music Major
Just like a lot of 14-year-olds, Alex Schachter had a lot of dreams for his future and his whole life ahead of him. His plans included becoming a music major at the University of Connecticut. He was often seen sporting a sweatshirt with the school's logo on it.
Alex Schachter's life was tragically cut very short. He was was one of the 17 victims who died in the nightmare of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
However, it looks as though one of the young trombone player's wishes has come true. NBCConnecticut.com reports that The University of Connecticut has sent a letter to Alex's family admitting him to the educational institution as a music major hoping that it would be some sort of comfort to Alex's loved ones.
Another student who was also killed on that horrible day, Peter Wang, was also posthumously admitted to the United States Military Academy. The 15-year-old was a member of the school's Junior ROTC.
