The Putnam County Sheriff's office reports that a man suspected in an armed robbery at a Subway sandwich shop in Patterson has been apprehended.

According to hudsonvalleypost.com, Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reported that the alleged suspect, 47-year-old John E. Caputo of Wingdale, is facing robbery charges. He is accused of holding up the Subway Sandwich Shop in the Patterson Commons Shopping Center on Tuesday, October 18.

During the incident, police say Caputo allegedly robbed the store at knife point, and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. He reportedly used a pickup truck parked nearby as a getaway vehicle.

Thursday, members of the Kent Police Department, along with special investigators, spotted a pick up truck and driver matching the description of the alegged robber and getaway vehicle. Police pulled over the pick up and after being questioned, Caputo was charged with first-degree robbery.

Caputo is now awaiting arraignment in court on the robbery charge, it's a class B felony and is punishable by up to 25 years in prison upon conviction.
